El Salvador Culture Tour

Star early, pickup at 7:30am at your hotel and then we drive 1 hour to get to Suchitoto. We visit the market, the park, the church, walk on its cobblestone streets for about one hour. Then we drive another hour to visit UNESCO World Heritage Mayan Arcaheological site, Joya de Ceren. This is the only site in the Mayan World were the life of common villagers was preserved to our day. The Mayan village was abandonded in the 7th century AD due to the eruption of the Loma Caldera Volcano. The whole village was covered with ash, which preserved all the inorganic materials and burning most of the organinc materials. Then we drive one more hour to visit the biggest pyramid in El Salvador located in the Tazumal archaeological site. This was a place were the Mayan Culture lived for around 3000 years. Its the most monumental site in El Salvador. Then we drive one more hour to visit Ataco, in the Route of the Flowers. We walk and check its murals and its park. Then we drive to Juayua, another town in the Route of the Flowers and then we drive back to San Salvador. Estimate time of arrival 18:00.
Bring: camera, money for foot and shopping, good shoes for walking in cobblestone streets. Rain Jacket, sunblock, water, mosquito repellent.
